I got the greatest idea from the Netherlands today. Let’s just store CO2 underground! “The Dutch government said two weeks ago it had approved the experimental below-ground storage of excess CO2 to curb damaging emissions, dismissing concerns of residents who live on top of the project.” (http://www.physorg.com/)

That just gets my branches all itchy: the government (especially the Dutch) is all talk about green citizenship. But when it comes down to it… let’s just put the garbage underground and then the problem is gone! Wow, that’s smart! What in Mother Earth’s name got in to you?

The Dutch official (let’s call him Klaas) who came up with that probably got the idea from his advisor, who earns a monthly salary of 100.000 euro. This advisor – 6 years old and (by great coincidence) the son of Klaas – came up with the idea when Klaas’s wife (Mien) ordered the advisor to clean his room. The advisor shoved all his rolling-stock, his impressive car park and his huge castle populated by dozens of small plastic people under his bed. Clean room, problem solved! Mien happy, the advisor happy. And Klaas was the hero of the day at the department. This was a cheap solution! And the garbage is gone! ‘Cause wat you can’t see. BTW: the advisor is not all evil; his car park is mainly electric.

To be fair about the above… I made it up. I just want to ventilate my frustration about plans like these. To me it’s like it sounds like a 6 year old came up with that!

“I understand all… I see no…
destructive urges… I see no…
It seems so perfect… I see noo…
I see… I see no… I see no evil”

(Tom Verlaine)

Anyhoo, what do you think of this pretty idea?

Hasta la vista,

Gary Not a good thing...
