Gary is a custom-made plant. He is a digital as well as a physical character. Digitally he interacts with people through twitter and facebook and physically he will react on the presence of people. Gary will be present at the Klimaforum in December 2009 in Copenhagen. He lost a few branches, leaves and fruits, and he is very ill at that moment. In Copenhagen he’ll be on life support. This refers to the idea that nature depends on actions of human beings. Furthermore, Gary is concerned with the victims of climate change. This appears in his online personality through his blog, facebook and tweets. We must do something to save the planet!

Gary is developed by eight students from the Utrecht School of Arts in The Netherlands for the environmental organization Friends of the Earth International (FOEI).

We (the students) are: Django den Boer, Matthijs Blanck, Reda van der Putten, Laura Wagenaars, Lisanne Lentink, Vincent Ignacio, Bart de Graaf and Kees-Jan Husselman.
